Laboratory
position
Fugro Middle East requires a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Laboratory Technician to fill the current vacancy in our Abu Dhabi laboratory.
Applicants, preferably qualified to HND level, in a relevant discipline will have a minimum of 10 years experience, 5 years of which should be directly related to testing material, reporting of results and supervision of materials laboratory technicians. Particular experience shall be all, or a minimum of two of the following fields:-
· Soils classification, characterisation, physical and mechanical properties
· Concrete and its’ constituent materials, additives and admixtures and production processes
· Asphalt and binder physical, mechanical and volumetric properties and production processes
Experience in assisting with preparations for external audits and accreditations and working in an accredited laboratory environment is essential.
Awareness of current testing standards and equipment calibration requirements is also essential together with the ability to work independently, supervise junior staff and have a highly motivated approach to the duties involved.

Knowledge:

Objective:
Provide service in accordance with client’s request and contract specifications.
Organize projects and implement appropriate techniques.
Establish and maintain long term relationship with clients and business partners.
Responsibilities and Authorities:
Held liable for putting the project(s) on track under the supervision of senior staff
Evaluate with the Sr. Engineer (or Lead Engineer) the project’s fitting within his/her experience and capabilities.
Respond to the specific needs of the client and assist Field Geologists/Field Engineers to do so.
Report to the Senior Engineer, the progress and difficulties on the projects in hands in terms of logistics, planning, budget, schedule, communication, etc
Report to the Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer all technical difficulties, queries, reporting, etc.
Report to the Lead Engineer any potential contractual conflict with the client.
Get the approval of the Lead Engineer to all reports.
Tasks:
Coach Field Geologists/Field Engineers collaborating in the department on all logistics and technical matters in coordination with Senior Engineer and Operations Department
Review of tests processing, logging and calculations.
Conduct own reporting
Liaise with clients and maintain good relationship with them and inform the Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer about any high profile meeting on any of the projects.
Stay informed about new technical resources.
Find solutions in coordination with the Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer for all problems faced or anticipated during a project.
Control quality of works during a project.
Prepare invoices, bring up chasing payments to the Senior Engineer and keep a good economy of a project.
Health and Safety:
Awareness of any specific health and safety measures needed on a project
Liaise all HSE needs with HSE Dept. and keep all involved informed
position requirements
The successful candidate should have:
University degree in Civil Engineering.
At least 3 years’ experience in soil investigation & laboratory testing, derivation of parameters, in depth understanding of soil mechanics, familiar with rock mechanics, basic foundation computations, foundation testing, etc.
Computer literacy to quickly grasp computational Geotechnical packages and excel in-house computational spreadsheets.
Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).

The Oil-free Air Division wants to be a leading provider of Engineered Compressed Air and Gas Systems into Oil and Gas, (Petro-) Chemical Industry as well as other industries.
The Application Group is a decentralized network of engineers that supports the Customer Centers in offering and supporting the sales and execution of products from the Systems Group (Compression Systems, Gas Purification Systems, Packaging Systems and future Industrial Gas Systems and Biogas Upgrading Systems).
Its mission is to provide world class application & project management for engineered products & packages to ensure a superior customer experience.
The Application Groups are divided in regional teams that will cover this activity for the entire globe. Today we are looking for a Project Engineer to join the team for Middle East and Africa.
As Project Engineer you are:
· Hands on, leading engineer with relevant experience that supports Customer Centers with technical and commercial proposals for engineered compressed gas systems.
· Interacting & cooperating with Atlas Copco Customer Centers, end customers, the other regional Application groups, the Systems Group and various qualified vendors.
· Reporting to the Application Manager – Middle East & Africa.
Your responsibilities include:
· Ensure all relevant project details are clearly exchanged between application engineer, Systems Group entities and the customer project team.
· Manage contracts ensuring they are within budget, focusing on project costing, profitability, and report any applicable discrepancies giving accurate projections of project costs, schedules and subsequent overruns.
· Coordinate all aspects of contract progression from receipt of order to the timely completion and accurate delivery of all required project deliverables.
· Manage large amounts of documents as part of the deliverables required on all projects utilizing support resources where possible.
· Maintain detailed project files and applicable records.
· Manage all customer expectations related to assigned projects.
· Travel to customer premises or sub-vendor locations as required to ensure smooth execution of project.
· Ensure proper detailed information exchanged with aftermarket team and coordinate where required to ensure safe and smooth start-up and commissioning.
Mission:
· To lead the process of executing accepted customer purchase orders for engineered compressed gas systems to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

Experience requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years experience in a project management role or equivalent.
· Direct experience with oil & gas industry and its customers is preferred, multicultural international environment experience a plus.
· Experience with mechanical and electrical design and manufacturing of industrial rotating machinery.
Knowledge:
· Good command (verbal and written) of English is a must. Arabic would be a definite plus.
· Solid understanding and mature user of MS Office.
· Able to work independently with mechanical/electrical CAD drawing software (Autocad + Inventor) and incorporate customer comments as needed.
· Strong technical and commercial knowledge of engineered gas compression systems and installations.
· Able to work within a time frame set by the customer.
· Able to plan and organize effectively with the right sense of urgency.
