industry, commerce, research, and an ever growing student population. Alfaisal
University is currently seeking to fill the following vacancy for Saudi
national fluent in English language: Counseling Advisor A counselor is an
individual that meets, talks and assists people with challenges, issues and
decisions concerning education and career decisions, behavioral and mental health,
crises, bereavement and problems with substance abuse, relationships and more. In
the case of a guidance counselor, the specific duties pertain to assisting
student plans and to play a vital part as a listener, talker and student
adviser about social, and academic challenges.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited
institute;
• 3 – 5 years of related and relevant experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work closely with admissions and financial aid staff to
advise new students (e.g., evaluates transcripts; develop plans of study,
etc.).
Provide academic advising to returning students, individually
or in groups, about College policies, programs of study and degree options.
Provide students with information about alternatives and possible consequences
of academic decisions.
Support career services by counseling students on career
options and guiding their development of job
search skills. Assist career services staff with special
projects.
Interpret and administer Goodwin College policies and
procedures.
Establish and maintain relationships with assigned Department
Chair/Program Directors to understand and clarify departmental expectations.
Maintain current knowledge of all the degree and certificate
programs.
Work closely with the Academic Office and Student Services
to connect students to academic support (e.g.,tutoring).
Complete other advising duties as requested such as: track
retention, authorize add/drops, and conduct degree audits. Keep advising
statistics, work schedule and other reporting documents up-to-date.
Participate on committees as requested.
Be scheduled on campus for a minimum of 42.5 hours, and be
flexible in terms of hours and days worked (includes Saturday and evening
hours).
Participate in professional conferences and other self-directed
professional development activities.
