JOB TITLE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR: (Ref.#AGU/13-14/ITD)
Summary
• The IT Director will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the university's strategies and objectives while fully supporting the business units.
• The role is accountable for overseeing, managing, and coordinating all aspects of all technology related areas, including implementing and maintaining best practices and standards in the IT infrastructure, data centers, project deliveries, IT Support and help desk, communication networks (voice and data), software development, and IT operations.
• In addition to developing, implementing and testing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Will interact with the business units heads and the executive team as university leaders who drive new business initiatives.
Align IT objectives and programs to university and business unit’s objectives and strategies
Will find new ways to help business units and the organization maximize results while focusing on managing budgets and processes to eliminate or reduce costs.
In line with business and IT strategies, will plan for future hardware, software and resources.
Strategic IT Initiatives
Selection and deployment of university solutions (Oracle, CRM, …)
Implementation of PMO and new procedures that align business projects with company strategies and project initiation and management processes.
University infrastructure, applications and Services
Optimize costs of services through a mix of internal and external resources and services
Software development versus off the shelf applications
In house versus hosted solutions
Select, manage, and control IT providers (including managing contracts, MSA, SLA)
Establish strategic service provider partnerships
Risk Management
Align IT risk management with university-wide risk management
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Resource planning.
Control
Report to the board the progress of all major IT initiatives and any potential issues.
Review, improve and implement existing and new policies and procedures.
Align the IT team with university performance objectives (KPIs, development goals, etc.)
Define metrics based on overall business objectives
Working Relationship (list the working relationship and interaction with internal and external party)
Will interact with the board, business unit and division heads to understand craft and deploy the best solutions for the university or each business unit.
Daily interaction with all IT related teams.
Qualification
• M. Sc. in Computer Science or related field.
