Job Purpose
Manager Base Maintenance Planning is responsible to ensure 2 Year and 5 Year Plans, Heavy Base maintenance activities are strategically and cost effectively planned for accomplishment within the specified time frames as defined by the OEM’s aircraft maintenance program and Etihad Maintenance policy schedule. Manage a team of Base Maintenance Planners who prepare comprehensive and accurate visit work scopes based on forecasting information supplied by the Maintenance Planning Department.
Responsibilities
Provide Leadership to the Base Maintenance Planning department to ensure robust maintenance plans/visit work scopes are prepared, in accordance the OEM, Etihad requirements with best industry practices to achieve departmental/organization objectives or goals that are cost effective and conforms to regulatory requirements
Ensure the Base Maintenance Planning team carries out a Risk assessment when Preparing Heavy Maintenance visits by evaluating and avoiding potential risk in the creation phase and ensuring the risk is mitigated to avoid any possible impact on Base Maintenance Input and work completion
Ensure all Base Non Routine open defects are planned before their due dates and included in the Heavy Maintenance visits.
Establish and Implement efficient and effective internal procedure (TPM) including interface (IPM) to support the department objectives as well as Customers
Establish a clear measurable KPI for own and for each personnel to be reviewed and monitored at least once a month with VP Aircraft overhaul and Modification. Implement improvements to each direct report as required correcting or improving performance to ensure the department objectives are met
Act as a focal point for all Base Maintenance Planning activities with all stake holders and during Audits take actions to correct, or adjust to eliminate inefficiencies and non-conformance with the Aim to have accurate visits and to have ‘0’ Major Level 1 Findings. Interface with different department heads on all matters relating to base maintenance planning
Ensure the visits are prepared for all Base Maintenance scheduled inputs by the Base Maintenance Planning team iaw agreed KPIs as per process. Ie Draft Work scopes, Pre-Input Work scopes and Frozen Work scopes
Custodian for the creation and publishing of 2 Year and 5 Year Maintenance plans and to ensure full ‘buy off’ from all internal and external stakeholders as specified in the process is achieved
Manage the department training schedule to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and individual’s development needs
Establish and Manage a safety reporting culture within the team by monitoring TORs raised and ensuring detailed reports are provided on existing occurrences
Requirements Qualification & Education:
Hold a technical academic degree in aeronautical engineering or hold an ICAO type I or type II license or minimum 10 years experience in a similar role
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years experience in the maintenance planning environment
Management experience of at least 5 years
Proven track record of success in delivering resultsExcellent all-round Project Management Skills
Training & Knowledge:
Formal technical training in at least 1 Etihad aircraft types
Internal or External management training
Excellent Crisis / Time management
Excellent knowledge of engineering standards appropriate for an International airline
Excellent knowledge of Aviation regulations (e.g. JAA, EASA, FAA and/or UAE GCAA)
High standard of English language
High standard of computer literacy (Microsoft Office applications)
Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent people skills and ability to expedite tasks in a firm and diplomatic manner, being able to exercise appropriate discretion/manage commercially sensitive data
GCAA regulations knowledge
